Nokesville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department would like to congratulate all thirteen students, and especially the six Nokesville members, who successfully completed the Prince William County’s Fire and Rescue Academy accredited EMT-B class #23216 this weekend.
From January to April, these students spent over 140 hours in class learning basic anatomy and physiology and pharmacology as well as practicing life-saving skills in trauma and medical emergencies. In addition, they spent clinical time on ambulances and medic units and participating in a mass casualty event exercise.
Following their class graduation, students will undertake the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT-B) cognitive exam, and then receive their Virginia certification. Looking ahead, they will complete a two-day protocols class and enter the rigorous Basic Life Support (BLS) Internship process to earn their Operational Medical Director (OMD) endorsement. Nokesville is looking forward to training, teaching, and mentoring these new EMTs!
